Avoidant personality disorder

The core problem of the avoidant personality disorder is an extreme fear of being judged and/or rejected. You tend to avoid facing your fears and would rather underachieve than fail. You would probably also rather be lonely than rejected. You have strong feelings of shame and embarrassment. Your fears and inhibitions keep you from participating fully in life. It could be that you have always been shy and inhibited, but maybe you have become shy and inhibited by your experiences in life. Whatever the source, your avoidance will most likely have resulted in increasing social isolation.
